The Aims of Ritmìa


 
  • Having fun creating and listening to music;
  • Learning the basics of music education: sound, silence, pitch, loudness, tone, sound length, rhythm, melody and harmony;
  • Learning beginning recorder technique both at a group and individual level;
  • Developing skills in basic rhythm and melody improvisation;
  • Using drawing and painting as unconventional means for learning music notation;
  • Listening to music not only with one's ears;
  • Showing the relationship between spoken language and music;
  • Broadening the perception of what a musical instrument is, so that children can improvise making their own instruments from common objects;
  • Developing a perception of different parts of the body, how to move them in space, and how these movements can be perceived better by sound stimulation;
  • Gaining a better understanding of breathing in order to develop body control, wind instrument technique and use of the voice;
  • Developing self control;
  • Learning to relax and concentrate by listening to one's body, sound stimulation and silence;
  • Using the voice as an instrument, improving ear training, developing a better sense of rhythm and esthaetics.
  • Developing a capacity to socialize and communicate.
  • Allowing children to be better prepared for future ensemble work.
